Most Frequent Question - Customer

Is chiropractic treatment painful?

While it is common, as with all manual therapy, to experience some delayed onset soreness, chiropractic adjustments are usually not painful at all! Although if you condition is acute and inflamed, it may be tender or sore to touch, in which case the chiropractor will modify his/her technique in order to minimize discomfort for you.

Who is suitable for chiropractic treatment?

We see patients from all ages! Due to sedentary lifestyle and prolonged bad sitting posture, we are seeing a rise in younger patients (toddlers to tweens) presenting to us with spinal issues! Chiropractic care is also safe for the elderly as we can modify our adjustments to be more gentle for them.

Why should I return after treatment if I'm feeling fine?

Post acute-injury recovery, pain and soreness sensation may subside, but the surrounding structures may take much longer (weeks to months) to change and adapt to a better and stronger alignment. If your health goal is to correct underlying structural issues to prevent deterioration and re-occurence, adhering to an extended schedule may be more beneficial. Beyond that, the human body, like any machines, require periodic maintenance to achieve optimal function. As such we chiropractors do recommend regular maintenance adjustments.

How does physiotherapy and rehabilitation complement my chiropractic care?

Physiotherapy and rehabilitation will aid to retrain the body muscle imbalances to help improve spinal stability & strength which will decrease the chance of re-injury and help the process of recovery faster.

How does chiropractic differ from massage therapy or traditional Chinese manipulation (Tui Na)?

Chiropractors focus on the intimate relationship between the nervous system and spine, and hold true the following beliefs: • Biomechanical and structural derangement of the spine can affect the nervous system • For many conditions, chiropractic treatment can restore the structural integrity of the spine, reduce pressure on the sensitive neurological tissue, and consequently improve the health of the individual. • Focuses finding the root cause of the musculoskeletal issues that cause the symptoms rather than just chasing symptoms which in turn will have a long-lasting effect. The treatment concept of chiropractic is to re-establish normal spinal mobility, which in turn alleviates the irritation to the spinal nerve and/or re-establishes altered reflexes. Massage therapy and TCM works to restore the body’s qi and natural skeletal structure through a combination of body adjustments and acupressure. A tui na practitioner administers treatment by the use of hands and fingers to apply pressure to acupoints, meridians, muscles and nerves to remove energy blockages and restore energy flow in the body. Massage therapy and TCM (Tui Na) can help with musculoskeletal issues and is great complement with chiropractic care, however it only focuses on the symptoms therefore will only have a short-term relief.
